![]() While we as Christians today may never be able to have influence in changing laws like Daniel did, our influence can still be used for God’s glory.Ĥ. If people can’t tell Christians apart from the rest of the world, we’re missing the first major step. Daniel used his influence in an extremely positive and powerful way. Not all people are brought to Christ through direct evangelism. Sadly, many Christians don’t use their influence to further God’s kingdom. Consequently, we also have the power to influence the people, we come in contact with. As illustrated in point #1, there was nothing more important to Daniel than God.Īs Christians living in America, we’re influenced by so much every single day. Of course, this became the reason he was thrown into the lion’s den. We find out later in the 6th chapter of Daniel that part of his daily routine was to kneel towards Jerusalem from his window and pray to God 3 times a day. It didn’t matter what everyone else was doing, it mattered to him that he pleases God no matter what everyone around him was doing.Ģ. God was the central aspect of Daniel’s life. Here’re four lessons that I want you to take away from this message:ġ. Daniel wasn’t willing to compromise his standards. In Daniel's case, glorious gospel truths that have been building through the chapters describing his life in Babylon reach their climax, in that God is our faithful deliverer. Age apparently is no barrier to spiritual usefulness. 3.You might think he had earned a little rest and relaxation for those retirement years, but God still was using the faithful prophet. In Chapter 6 Daniel was around 70 years old when these events unfolded. In other words, He delivers completely (2 Timothy 4:18)! If you’re in a horrible den, threatened by any kind of lion, the same power that delivered Daniel will deliver you if you will put your trust in the living God. It’s a great thing to experience the delivering power of God, for He delivers from sin (Hebrews 7:25) from fear (Psalm 34:4) from doubt (Matthew 14:31) from anxiety (Philippians 4:6-7) and He breaks the power of evil habits. It was the power of “faith and prayer that delivered Daniel – 6:20-23. That's what faith in the living God does, it gives peace and poise in the midst of terrifying situations and produces within the believer the experience of peace that passes all understanding – Philippians 4:7. What God wants most in our lives is that we trust Him, as Daniel did. God actually allowed Daniel to be put into the den, just as previously He had allowed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to be put into the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:17-23) just as He allowed Paul and Silas to be cast into prison (Acts 16:23-24) and like all these, Daniel’s sustaining faith in God kept him at peace - Daniel 6:16-23. In this evil world, committed believers are powerful tools, in the hands of God, when they stand strong in the face of trails, they bear witness to the reality of the Lord Jesus Christ and Savior. They’re an inspiration and challengers to all who’ll stand strong for God's truth and righteousness. our Christian life, there’ll be risks, but God has promised rewards, not only in the “here-after,” but also for not being defiled by the world. Daniel’s life is about how to remain faithful in all circumstances. It is a great strengthener to faith, and a challenger to stand firm, in a time of testing and trial, and a marvelous demonstration of the power of prayer. The story of Daniel in the lion’s den, is one of the most dramatic incidents recorded in the Bible.
